Q. Is it safe to take dandelion root if you have moderately low blood pressure (around 115/70)?

A. I would feel just fine about taking dandelion if I had low blood pressure. Also, 115/70 isn't all that low. In fact, new guidelines suggest that heart disease risk rises with blood pressure above 115/75, which is down from the previous recommendation of 120/80 and that people should try to keep their levels below that reading. These guidelines were issued by the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Hypertension, the American Diabetes Association, the American Public Health Association, and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, among others.

The only reason I would be concerned about low blood pressure, or "hypotension" is if my health were otherwise poor or I had very low energy levels, in which case I would definitely use herbs to nourish the heart and blood vessels, like cayenne pepper, hawthorn berries, garlic, alfalfa and other "superfoods" (whole food nutritional supplements), and also the mucusless diet, a good exercise program (start slow and work up) and plenty of cleansing. Personally, I would be thrilled to have blood pressure of 115/70 as long as my energy level was good.

Complete detailed step-by-step instructions for cleaning out all the parasites, parasite eggs, disease germs, old fecal matter, the gum you swallowed when you were five, and everything else that is stuck in your colon and poisoning you right now are in my book "The Foundational Cleansing and Nourishing Program." This wonderfully useful book also reveals how to clean stones, fat, cholesterol, and toxic buildup out of your liver and get your kidneys working like they did when you were 16!

Back to the dandelion... I can definitely see where your concern comes from as dandelion is a diuretic and is sometimes used to reduce high blood pressure. But, as I explain in my free e-book, herbs, especially food herbs like dandelion, are so easily recognizable by the human body that it can take the components from them that it needs at the moment and leave the others behind. Your body doesn't have this ability with pharmaceutical drugs (they are only a single chemical compound), which is one of the reasons they are so dangerous. Dandelion is also very high in both sodium and potassium, the two nutrients most important in regulating blood pressure and keeping it where it should be for you (which might be different from where it should be for someone else), as well as a host of other nutrients, including several times as much beta carotene as carrots! So I wouldn't be surprised if dandelion proved to be very beneficial in this situation.
